A Note on Nutrition

Nutrition plays a huge part in living a healthy lifestyle. I truly believe that to ensure a balanced approach to fitness and wellbeing you need to nourish your body by eating a wide variety of nutrient-rich foods in order to create a strong and healthy body and mind.

What Happens When I Eat?

Your body uses food for energy and everything we eat or drink is broken down into nutrients. The nutrients then travel round the body to be used not only as fuel or energy, but to assist with many other functions within the body.

In order to give the body the correct nutrition and for the body to thrive, it is vital that you eat and drink enough of the foods containing these key nutrients.

What Happens When I Overeat?

Any excess energy the body doesn’t need is stored as fat. If you eat more food than your body requires you will gain weight. Research has shown that many quick-fix diet solutions are not sustainable long term and people tend to gain weight when they revert back to their old eating habits.

What Happens When I Eat Too Little?

If your body is starved of food it won’t be able to function properly and, as a result, your energy levels will fall. It will gradually slow down and try and hold on to what little energy it has by burning fewer calories, and your basal metabolic rate (BMR) – the amount of calories you burn to keep your body functioning – will drop.

At the end of the programme you will be supplied with a written report on your progress, together with recommendations for the future. Where appropriate, weekly reviews will be undertaken.
